Guggisberg Cheese has a rich history stemming from the Swiss Alps and has become a beloved name in Ohio's Amish Country since its establishment in 1950. Alfred Guggisberg, a Swiss immigrant who brought his cheesemaking expertise from Switzerland. He initially began his craft in the Swiss Alps and further honed his skills at the Swiss Federal Dairy School. Alfred relocated to Ohio in search of new opportunities and soon became a well-respected cheesemaker, particularly among local Amish dairy farmers. He originally took over a cheese factory known as Doughty Valley Cheese, which then transitioned into Guggisberg Cheese.
