The story of Schär, the company that produces the gluten-free Table Crackers, is a long-standing history that predates the modern gluten-free trend.  It is a story of a business evolving from focusing on general children's health to becoming a global leader in specialized, gluten-free nutrition.  The company's origins trace back to 1922 in South Tyrol, Italy.  Medical practitioner Dr. Anton Schär and his brother-in-law, a mill owner, sought to address malnutrition in children during the post-war period.  They initially focused on developing specialized foods for infants with digestive issues, using ingredients like tapioca, rice, and corn.  These easily digestible, carbohydrate-rich products were naturally gluten-free, though not intentionally so at the time.
