Fortune Favors is a candied pecan company from Madison, Wisconsin, founded in 2018 by award-winning chef Eric Rupert and COO Jess Benish. The company was originally named Nutkrack but rebranded to Fortune Flavors in 2023 as part of its national expansion. While working as an executive chef at Epic Systems in Wisconsin, Eric Rupert accidentally dropped some pecan halves into the wrong pot on a busy stovetop. After noticing the perfectly glazed pecans, he tried one and was captivated by its unique crunchiness. He then added salt to a second batch and began sharing the accidental treat with family and friends. In 2018, Rupert and Benish formally launched the company (as Nutkrack) out of a small pecan shop on Madison's east side.
