Nettle Meadow Farm & Artisan Cheese is an award-winning artisan cheesemaker in New York’s Adirondack region, with its creamery and tasting room at the historic Hitching Post in Lake Luzerne and its animal sanctuary nearby in Thurman. Founded in 1990 by Sheila Flanagan and Lorraine Lambiase, it began with a small goat herd and grew into a respected maker of soft cheeses, fromage frais, and aged cheeses.
The farm cares for more than 300 goats, as well as sheep, guard llamas, chickens, and ducks, within a 501(c)(3) sanctuary focused on compassionate, sustainable farming. Their natural diet of hay, grains, wild herbs, raspberry leaf, garlic, and kelp helps shape the quality and character of the milk.
