Matiz is a Spanish specialty food brand that sells high-quality traditional products, including its Corn Quicos. These are giant, crunchy, corn kernels, a classic Spanish snack often served in tapas bars. Matiz Corn Quicos have a bold, salty flavor that is not overwhelming. They are much larger and lighter than typical corn nuts, providing an extra-crispy, satisfying crunch.
The Matiz brand was created by Culinary Collective, an American import and distribution company based in Seattle, Washington. The brand's story is rooted in the founders' passion for traditional, high-quality, and sustainably sourced Spanish foods, and their desire to share those products with American consumers. Culinary Collective was founded in 1998 by Pere Selles, originally from Catalunya, Spain, and Betsy Power, from Massachusetts. The partners traveled to Spain, building direct relationships with small, family-owned producers in fishing villages and farms. To unite the diverse range of imported products under one recognizable and stylish label, Culinary Collective created the Matiz brand. The name, which means "hue" in Spanish, reflects the vibrant flavors and traditions of Spain.
